Content: the tasks of...

 

 

 

The tasks of the Executive Committee (EC):  

  • submitting proposals to the Assembly (= the members of the IPSO)
  • executing the decisions taken by the Assembly
  • conducting the general business of the IPSO 
  • supervising the expenditure of money in accordance with the budget
  • informing the Assembly on the activities of Task Forces and Dedicated Networks, as well as on all other relevant issues 
  • representing the IPSO to public authorities, institutions and other organizations, in accordance to the general policies set by the Assembly 
  • taking all appropriate actions in order to achieve the objectives of the IPSO, in accordance with the general policies set by the Assembly 
  • note: the EC may delegate tasks (and a corresponding part of the budget) to Task Forces

 

 

The tasks of the President and Vice-President:

  • maintain (and stimulate) regular contact with (and among) all members and advisors of the EC as well as the coordinators of the Task Forces and Dedicated Networks
  • advise and support all members and advisors of the EC as well as the coordinators of the Task Forces and Dedicated Networks
  • maintain regular contact with other relevant organizations (IAAP, APA, Psi Chi, APAGS, EFPSA, etc…) [supported by the Professional Members CoCo, and Constituents CoCo]
  • coordinate and stimulate the activities of the EC, the Task Forces, and the Dedicated Networks 
  • prepare and chair the work and meetings of the EC and the Assembly [supported by the Secretary]
  • report to the rest of the EC and to the Assembly [supported by the Secretary]

 

The tasks of the 3 Council Coordinators (CoCo’s):

  • maintain (and stimulate) regular contact with (and among) their respective target group (i.e., “unorganized” psychology students for the Student Members CoCo, psychology students’ organizations for the Constituents CoCo, and supportive psychologists and their organizations for the Professional Members CoCo)
  • advise and support the other members of the EC as well as the coordinators of the Task Forces and Dedicated Networks with regards to their respective target group (…)
  • stimulate the inflow of people or orgs from their respective target group (…)
  • prepare and chair the work and meetings of their respective Council
  • report to the rest of the EC and to the President & Vice-President in particular
  • note: according to the IPSO by-laws, the Councils are financially self-supporting and the IPSO carries no responsibility for their finances BUT this does not mean that the IPSO cannot support the Councils (with money or otherwise), but rather that they need the approoval of the IPSO as a whole to use money of the IPSO as a whole (as opposed to money from the Councils themselves)

 

The tasks of the Secretary [who is to be appointed by the five elected EC-members]:

  • maintain regular contact with the EC and the President & Vice-President in particular
  • manage the archives on the Intranet at http://ipso.intranets.com 
  • process the membership applications [supported by the Student Members CoCo]
  • legally register the IPSO in a politically rather neutral and stable country like Canada (recommended by the IUPsyS) [supported by the President, Vice-President, Professional Members CoCo, & Constituents CoCo]
  • advise and support the Task Forces that might be set up to take care of a part of these tasks
  • support the President and/or Vice-President in preparing and chairing the work and meetings of the EC and the Assembly
  • support the President and/or Vice-President to report to the rest of the EC and to the Assembly
  • report to the rest of the EC and to the President & Vice-President in particular

 

The tasks of the Treasurer [who is to be appointed by the five elected EC-members]:

  • maintain regular contact with the EC and the President & Vice-President in particular
  • negotiate more price reductions (on meetings, journals, tests, etc…)
  • improve the organisation of the IPSO’s financial support = looking for fundraising opportunities [supported by the rest of the EC]
  • advise and support the Task Forces that might be set up to take care of a part of these tasks
  • report to the rest of the EC and to the President & Vice-President in particular

 

The tasks of the Task Force Coordinators (TaCo’s) [who are to be appointed by the seven EC-members]:

  • maintain regular contact with the EC
  • coordinate the work of their Task Force (= a delegated part of the EC-tasks)
  • report to the EC
  • note: Task Forces could include “Study or Work Abroad”, “Support for Student Orgs”, “International Meetings”, “Legal Registration of the IPSO”, “Public Relations Tools”, “Price Reductions”, “Financial Support for the IPSO”, “South-East Asia”, etc…

 

The tasks of the Dedicated Network Coordinators (DeCo’s) [who are to be appointed by the seven EC-members]:

  • maintain regular contact with the EC
  • coordinate the activities of their Dedicated Network (= an initiative from one or more members, officially including the mailing lists for specific topics or groups)
  • report to the EC
  • note: according to the IPSO by-laws, the Dedicated Networks are financially self-supporting and the IPSO carries no responsibility for their finances BUT this does not mean that the IPSO cannot support the Dedicated Networks (with money or otherwise), but rather that they need the approoval of the IPSO as a whole to use money of the IPSO as a whole (as opposed to money from the Dedicated Networks themselves)
