Who I am / What I do
I am a Mexican National studying at San Francisco State University (SFSU) located in San Francisco California. I am a graduating senior and mayor in Psychology. My main interests within the broad field of Psychology lie in: Clinical, Clinical Child, Community and Cross Cultural Psychology. I am currently a Research Assistant at the CERL Culture and Emotion Research Laboratory at SFSU, which is lead by Dr. David Matsumoto, an prominent figure in the field of Cross Cultural Psychology. I was a full time research assistant at UCSF's department of Community Mental Health for a year, under the mentorship of Dr. Emily Ozer, a superb Psychologist and Researcher, organizing research task and administering research independently, now I am a part time Research Assistant for that same department and assist in the translation of technical documents and socio-cultural consultation. I am one of only three undergraduate members of the Bay Area Community Psychology Group, a group composed of Faculty from Universities such as Stanford, University of California at Berkeley (UCB) and San Francisco (UCSF) and SFSU, among other universities in the San Francisco Bay Area. This groups meets on a quarterly basis to discuss issues pertaining to Community Psychology and present projects, books, journals and share and discuss ideas. I participated as a researcher in the study (which may soon be published) entitled: Emotion Recognition Ability and Intercultural Adjustment in International Students, along with Dr. David Matsumoto, Dr. Jeffrey Leroux, and Sidney Yoo. I am in the process of finishing my Honors Thesis, Entitled International students feelings of Unwelcomeness, Depression and Anxiety, as a result of 9/11. My Honors Thesis promises significant results that may indeed make a difference for the International Student Communities that study throughout the United States of America. I am also the only Psychology tutor at the Learning Assistance Center at SFSU, I tutor students of psychology in courses that range from General Psychology to Research Methods and Introductory Statistics. I am a permanent member of the San Francisco chapter of Psi Chi, the National Honors Society in Psychology. I am a memeber of the National Scholars Honor Society, to which only the top 10th percentile of students in the United States of America can be members of. My Biography is published in the 2002 edition of the Dean's List Book, which is available in the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. and is also an honor available to only the top 10th percentile of students in the United States of America. I am a dedicated student of Psychology and plan to enter a Doctoral Program somewhere in the world within the next 2 Years to provide a significant contribution to the field of Psychology and to humanity.
