4. My Ph.D. & IPSO

Experience in applying for national and international funding (Crucial for IPSO)
Connections and networking with European researchers (relevant for IPSO)
Mainly worked through the Internet (as with IPSO)
Practically oriented (as with everything)

My top priorities for the two following years are to promote:

1. IPSO as an Academic Entity
IPSO must be run by students for the strict benefits of students
Not lose sight the first purpose of the organisation: Studying Psychology
Enhance a sense of belonging and coherence between psychology students
Stimulate research co-operation between different countries
Create a safety net for students to have access to resources in research methods and essential theories (on the web-site)
Co-ordinate the creation of a monthly newsletter as a tangible platform for students to express their opinions and provide account of their current research
Enthuse all members to contribute to this newsletter by means of debates
More Discussion Lists
More summer schools/workshops on a particular theme

2. IPSO as a Social Entity
Increase the number of students, professionals and organisations affiliated
Lighten up IPSO and promoting fun within the organisation: (e.g. jokes about scientists and students alike)
Promote travelling and studying abroad (e.g. twining between different universities to facilitate exchanges)
Organise an annual conference and a summer workshop at the very least

3. IPSO as a Learning Organisation
Create the post of an ombudsman (outside the Executive Committee) to make sure that members' personal issues and complains are adequately treated.
Establish regular but brief online evaluation of the members' degree of satisfaction with the work of the executive committee

4. IPSO as a Political Entity (i.e. outside psychology)
Prospect and hopefully obtaining funding from external bodies not necessarily related to psychology (e.g. UN, World Bank, WHO, WTO, EU…)
Position IPSO as a consulting body regarding the building of a European Degree in Psychology
Increase the awareness of IPSO at an intercontinental level (e.g. by sending delegates to scientific conferences not necessarily related to psychology)

My aims as a Vice-President

1. Refine the aims and objectives of IPSO as an international organisation (See the aforementioned priorities)
2. Represent IPSO on the international scene through international conferences' presentation
3. Promote IPSO's reputation by publishing articles in national newsletters
4. Co-ordinate the efforts of the three council co-ordinators, treasurer, task forces and dedicated networks as they must work side-by-side
5. Network tactically in order to obtain external funding from external bodies
6. Stimulate exchanges between universities on a short-term basis, such as by means of two-week placements, especially for post-graduate students.

My aims as a Constituents Council Coordinator

1. Prospect the world in order to increase the number of organisations affiliated to IPSO (75+)
2. Not to reduce the affiliated organisations to students' bodies but also include professional bodies
3. Ameliorate the co-operation between IPSO and its constituents
4. Facilitate meetings' planning and organisation between the different constituents
5. Gather opinions and ideas from other constituents through regular exchange of information with constituents' representative
6. Motivate each constituent representative to inform IPSO members with conferences (at least the annual conference) that are hold under the constituent's auspices
7. Co-ordinate the provision of a short briefing of each constituent's annual meetings
8. Strive to obtain external funding from constituents by indirect means (e.g. joined organisations of conferences, joined publications of newsletters )
9. Create a Network and a data basis dedicated to the provision of relevant information (e.g. legal matters, accreditation, grant applications) to all constituents

My aims as a treasurer

1. Increase the funding of the organisation!
2. Strive to obtain external funding from constituents by indirect means (as above)
3. Maintain students' fees as low as possible (or non-existent as today)
4. Maintain constituents' fees (or contribution) as high as possible
5. Obtain external funding from psychology-unrelated organisations (e.g. European Community, United-Nations, World-Bank, World Health Organisation…Etc)
6. Obtain external funding from psychology related professional organisations (e.g. APA, BPS, SFP and other national organisations)
7. Obtain sponsorship from private organisations (e.g. publishers)
8. Negotiate more cost reductions accessible to all IPSO members
